Scuba diving has held an allure for me for a long time. I always had an interest in it, but just a fleeting interest. When I was working an IT issue for one of my customers, he had this strange-looking, triangular shaped thing on his desk. I asked him what it was, and he said, “Why, that’s a meg tooth!” That meg tooth, and my customer (who is a SCUBA Instructor), finally brought me over the threshold to diving.
Diving has proved to be life-changing, to say the least. I have been reminded numerous times of how short life is, how important it is to live life in a really fulfilled manner, and to do it with the BEST people possible. After living in Europe for almost ten years in the Army, it is far more than a treat to be able to continue traveling and seeing the world – above AND below the waterline.
Even more important than allowing diving to change my life, my outlook, and my view and knowledge of our aquatic world, I have found the love of providing these same opportunities to others who are just coming to diving. Giving to others, focusing on their “diving welfare,” and working with diving professionals whose hallmark is the same, are of paramount importance. It is an unequalled privilege to watch someone take their first breaths underwater, to see the calm in their demeanor, and the smile on their face when they realize they’ve entered a new chapter in their lives.
I do not take lightly the opportunity and privilege of being entrusted with someone’s life, AND someone’s hard-work, name, and enterprise. All the divers on our crew feel the way I do, and are here to contribute and give.
