This SDI specialty at Get-N-Wet Scuba is built for certified divers ready to advance their knowledge and extend their no-decompression limits. Nitrox, a breathing gas with reduced nitrogen content compared to regular air, lets you spend more time underwater with a wider safety margin and less fatigue afterward. You'll learn the physiology behind different breathing gas mixtures, the equipment considerations that come with nitrox diving, and how to safely use mixtures up to 40 percent oxygen with a dive computer.
The course covers the advantages and disadvantages of nitrox mixtures and how to properly analyze a cylinder before every dive. To complete certification, you'll demonstrate full comprehension of the course material, analyze at least two nitrox cylinders, log at least one nitrox dive, and program a nitrox computer to a mix between 22-40 percent oxygen.
