Full face masks protect your eyes and airway, keep you warmer in cold water, and allow underwater communication, making them a favorite for public safety divers, scientific divers, and cold-water explorers. Train hands-on with instructor Rick Harkins, a public safety diver with extensive full face mask and zero-visibility experience. This course is entirely in-person with no digital learning component.

A full face mask changes the way you dive. Because you breathe through your nose as well as your mouth, it's a more natural, comfortable experience — especially valuable in cold water, low visibility, or contaminated environments where protecting your eyes and airway matters most. Communication gear can also be fitted to a full face mask, a major advantage for public safety, commercial, and scientific diving. At Get-N-Wet Scuba, this course is taught by Rick Harkins, a public safety diver with hundreds of full face mask dives and extensive zero-visibility experience.
Because full face mask work has real safety stakes, this specialty does not have a digital learning component — every session is in-person and hands-on. You'll learn the different types of full face masks and their components, preparation, donning, and maintenance procedures, and get comfortable with your mask during a confined water session. In open water, across two dives, you'll demonstrate mask preparation and checks, underwater adjustments and water clearing, and how to respond to a simulated out-of-gas emergency. We stock multiple full face mask units for class rental, including the OTS Guardian, OTS Spectrum, Ocean Reef Neptune Space, and Drager Panorama Nova.
