Scuba Skills Update

It's easy for dive skills to get rusty. The SSI Scuba Skills Update gets you back in the water with confidence, reviewing and practicing your Open Water Diver skills one-on-one with an SSI professional — no fixed course duration, just the pace you need.

Availability: In Stock

If it's been a while since your last dive, the SSI Scuba Skills Update is the fastest way to shake off the rust before your next trip. Held in our heated training pool in Harrisburg, PA, this course reviews and practices the core skills you learned in your Open Water Diver certification — mask clearing, buoyancy control, regulator recovery, and more — one-on-one with an SSI professional. There's no fixed course duration, so your instructor focuses on exactly the skills you need help with, whether that's a quick tune-up or a more thorough refresher.

This course is a smart move to book just before a dive vacation, so you spend your trip enjoying the reef instead of second-guessing your skills. It's also ideal for divers who are certified as Referral Divers but haven't yet completed their open water dives, giving you a chance to practice before those checkout dives. A dive kit rental add-on is available for $30 if you need gear for your session.

FAQ

How long since my last dive is "too long" for a refresher?

There's no strict rule — if you feel rusty or it's been a year or more since your last dive, a Scuba Skills Update is a smart, low-cost way to rebuild confidence before your next trip.

Is the Scuba Skills Update required before every dive trip?

No, it's optional, but many divers choose to book one before a vacation or after a long break from diving.

I'm a Referral Diver who hasn't finished my open water dives yet — is this for me?

Yes. This course is a great way to practice your skills before completing your open water checkout dives.

Do I need my own gear?

No — a dive kit rental add-on is available for $30 if you need equipment for your session.
