SDI Solo Diver
At one point or another, many divers find themselves alone during a dive, intentional or not. SDI's Solo Diver course teaches self-reliant scuba diving without a dive buddy, covering equipment, planning, and emergency management for experienced divers ready to dive independently.

Solo diving, once considered purely technical diving and discouraged by most agencies, is now recognized by many experienced divers and certification agencies as an acceptable practice for those who are properly trained and experienced. Rather than relying on the traditional buddy system, SDI's Solo Diver course at Get-N-Wet Scuba trains you to be self-sufficient and take full responsibility for your own safety underwater.
One of SDI's most popular courses, Solo Diver stresses proper dive planning, personal limitations, and accident prevention, along with the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for diving solo. You'll learn the additional equipment required for solo diving, how to configure it, and how to manage solo diving emergencies. It's a favorite course for underwater photographers and videographers, as well as divers whose regular buddies may not be experienced enough to rely on. Required skills include a 200-meter surface swim in full scuba gear, precise dive planning based on your personal air consumption, and demonstrating an emergency changeover to a redundant air supply.
